Welcome Star Wars Fans

So begins the real-life saga of certified geek and official Jedi Knight wannabe, Tony Pacitti. MY BEST FRIEND IS A WOOKIEE: A Memoir, One Boy’s Journey to Find His Place in the Galaxy (Adams Media) is a hilarious and heart-wrenching coming-of-age tale framed around Lucas’ epic Star Wars…the movie that changed one little boy’s life.

With the Force on his side, Tony Pacitti survives countless hurdles of adolescence, temptations from the Dark Side, and ultimately lives to see the day when he can be comfortable in his own skin. For anyone who’s pretended a flashlight was a lightsaber, MY BEST FRIEND IS A WOOKIEE is not only a love letter to one of the greatest movies ever made, but an important
reflection of an entire generation.

And now we welcome you to Tony's community site! We encourage you to participate in the forums, read his blog posts, chat with friends, and more.

RIP Irvin Kershner

So I’m really at a loss for words here. Odds are if you’re reading this that you know how I feel about Star Wars and The Empire Strikes

Back in particular. This morning Irvin Kershner, the director of The

Empire Strikes Back, passed away.

Kershner brought the best out of the characters and worlds that George had created. It was his directing, along with Kasdan’s script,

that elevated this world above the realm of Kid’s Stuff. He showed us

our heroes at their lowest…

His Best Friend is a d20

I have been very fortunate when it comes to endorsements for My Best Friend is a Wookiee. A lot of people whose work I admire gave their time to say a lot of really nice things about a book by a guy nobody on the planet had ever heard of. Some of them even took that extra step and helped me out beyond just giving me a blurb. Kevin Rubio was nice enough to show me around Comic Con. Scott Hinze had me on Fanboy Radio (that show will air next week, stay tuned). And Ethan Gilsdorf has taken me… Continue

Words From the Road (kinda)

Posted by Tony Pacitti on September 23, 2010 at 6:09pm 0 Comments

So my book "tour" is officially underway. I say "tour" because with a few exceptions I won't be traveling out beyond my native Massachusetts and my adopted home state of Rhode Island. That being said, the book has traveled were I cannot. I've gotten a few messages via twitter and facebook from people who have found and liked the book. I can't do justice to how excited I get when that happens. People I don't know, who I will never meet and who I have no way of informing about the book beyond… Continue

So I did a couple of signings this past weekend. I'll get more to that later (maybe after I've got a couple more under my belt?) But for now here are some cool bits of press for the book!

More than school, parents or religion, Star Wars spoke to me when I was young. For a laundry list of reasons--all of which are conveniently and, might I say, quite humorously chronicled…Continue
