Your Security Blanket

More than school, parents or religion, Star Wars spoke to me when I was young. For a laundry list of reasons--all of which are conveniently and, might I say, quite humorously chronicled…Continue

Which character or scene/event from The Saga do you most identify with? More than just who is the biggest badass, what about that specific character or moment struck a chord with you as a person? It…Continue

It was 1977 and I was 4yo.  My dad had already seen SW with my mom and he told me all about it.  I dont really remember this, but my mom told me later.  Anyway, my parents took me to see it and that created a monster, a SW…

I would have to say Luke.  I can relate to Luke in ANH where he walks out of dinner with Owen and Beru all frustrated and makes his way outside to gaze into the Binary sunset for some serious thought.  My favorite though is in ESB when he…

My parents took me to see SW: ANH in 1977 when I was 4yo.  That was it, I was hooked for life.  SW was my security blanket all through grade school.  My parents thought it was bad though and they tried to limit my exposure to it out…

Tony,   I just finished your book, and I really connected with it. Though I was a huge Star Wars fan for years, my security blanket was Metallica. When middle school hit, I was routinely bullied by very dangerous kids (with guns and knives and…

RIP Irvin Kershner

So I’m really at a loss for words here. Odds are if you’re reading this that you know how I feel about Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back in particular. This morning Irvin Kershner, the director of TheEmpire Strikes Back, passed away.Kershner brought the best out of the characters and worlds that George had created. It was his directing, along with Kasdan’s script, that elevated this world above the realm of Kid’s Stuff. He showed usour heroes at their lowest points, and though they ended…See More

My security blanket has always been Star Wars. Since I didn’t quite fit in as a kid, I basically took refuge in my head and would always go there when things got tough in real life… or even when they didn’t. Star Wars was an…

My favorite movie of all time of course, the Goonies! I just loved escaping suburbia into their lives and adventure watching the movie over and over again. And even as an adult I still get the same glow every time I watch the movie. I am actually…

His Best Friend is a d20

I have been very fortunate when it comes to endorsements for My Best Friend is a Wookiee. A lot of people whose work I admire gave their time to say a lot of really nice things about a book by a guy nobody on the planet had ever heard of. Some of them even took that extra step and helped me out beyond just giving me a blurb. Kevin Rubio was nice enough to show me around Comic Con. Scott Hinze had me on Fanboy Radio (that show will air next week, stay tuned). And Ethan Gilsdorf has taken me…See More

Words From the Road (kinda)

So my book "tour" is officially underway. I say "tour" because with a few exceptions I won't be traveling out beyond my native Massachusetts and my adopted home state of Rhode Island. That being said, the book has traveled were I cannot. I've gotten a few messages via twitter and facebook from people who have found and liked the book. I can't do justice to how excited I get when that happens. People I don't know, who I will never meet and who I have no way of informing about the book beyond…See More

Showing my age here but I was 4 years old when Episode Four came out. My parents took me to see it at the drive-in (and, thankfully, they didn't make out). Even at that tender age, I loved Star Wars but found the trash compactor scene to be the…

Hitting the road in four days!

I am on the brink of taking my first step into a larger world. Friday will be my first book reading and signing, with another the day after. It's appropriate, I suppose, that these events will be help on old stomping grounds. Friday I'll be returning to UMass Dartmouth, the setting of the last few chapters of the book and home to four years worth of getting comfy in my then-new adult skin. It will be a fun, though strange return, since I am certainly a much different person now than I was…See More
